365 Project - Day 327

“Make the most of yourself....for that is all there is of you." Ralph Waldo Emerson

I have enjoyed the reaction of people the last few days as I have offered to have people with fewer items than I step in line in front of me or had someone order ahead of me at the deli since I was in less of a hurry. It feels good to have the fullness of time and patience to offer these blessings to others.

One of the beauties of a cup overflowing, is that you have so much left over that you must share or the blessings spoil. That is true whether we are discussing people or fruit. And, when we make the most of ourselves, we expand our blessings until we become more than enough and overflow. When that happens, our good gifts are shared with others.

May your blessings overflow.

365 Project - Day 298

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will ever let the righteous be shaken." Psalm 55:22

Confession ... I've gotten so far behind in my 365 blogging that I lost a day somehow and the Limes below were skipped. I have a lot on my mind and I suppose the combination of the high key limes and the whimsical flowers may be a bit of a reflection on my state of existence now.

Perhaps I just have a little too much of this going on? “I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.” Sylvia Platt

If so, I'm not sure I'm ready to narrow my work, yet!

Best wishes.

365 Project - Day 150

Here's one thing I've come to learn, for certain ... Late night photos, without much sleep are not my best work! It dawned on me very late Saturday night that I had not completed my 365 for the day. I had been tired all the day long. I was cranky and not in the mood to organize and take a photo. Nevertheless, I am committed to this project, so something needed to be done. I had purchased a lot of limes for an Asian Salmon dinner I never had the opportunity to cook. I pulled out the limes, but I had no energy to set up my flash. I chose to light with the light from our kitchen. This turned out to be a bad idea, since the maple cabinetry left an orange cast in the photos. Again, no energy to resolve in the moment, but utterly frustrating. I was living this quote by Charles Bukowski, "Find out what you love and let it kill you."

I did, however, try a variety of different set-ups for the limes and the bowl worked out best. I even shot the bowl again in the morning. I suppose that was just to prove that in the light of a new day (no pun intended), the task could be accomplished properly ;-) A little perseverance on my part. Since I wasn't thrilled with the initial attempt, I converted to black and white. I am sharing both the Day 150 in B&W and my do-over!

I am more than 150 days in on this 365 day journey. I am deeply committed. That commitment is not always the easiest path, yet it is my path. And, I am already better for my persistence. "Commitment is an act, not a word." Jean-Paul Sartre

Best wishes!
